About the Event

Join us on Sunday, May 31 at 4PM for "Virtue in Virtuosity," our next Constellations Virtual Concert! This concert takes us to the pinnacles of human expression and ability with some of the most beautiful (and most difficult!) works in the classical repertoire.

Registration is appreciated (but not required) so we can know who's watching!  As usual, the performance will be posted on our home page (www.constellationsmusic.org) as well as on our Facebook page, and available online for 72 hours to enjoy at your convenience. Access to the video is free and we encourage you to continue to spread the word and share with family and friends.

Our eighth concert features a husband-and-wife musical team all the way from Madrid, Spain: violinist Gábor Szabó and violist Wenting Kang!  Gabor and Wenting serve as concertmaster and principal viola of the Madrid Soloists Chamber Orchestra.  Gabor also tours frequently as soloist throughout Europe and the United States, and Wenting serves as associate principal violist for the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid and assistant professor for renowned violist Nobuko Imai.

The program will feature the following works:

Igor Stravinsky: Elegy for solo viola

Niccolo Paganini: Introduction and Variations on "Nel cor più non mi sento" from Giovanni Paisiello's La Molinara

J.S. Bach: Chaconne from Partita No. 2 in D Minor, BWV 1004

Artistic Director Ellen Hwangbo will host a discussion panel with the artists to discuss the program, how they navigate the extreme challenges of each work, and insights from their lockdown together in Spain.

A big THANK YOU to Hae-Soon Hahn & Steve Rosenbaum, Lenore & Paul Brantley, Martha Alvarado, Silva Karayan, Movses Pogossian, Nancy Riker, and Aron and Karen Primack for sponsoring the musicians for our seventh Constellations Virtual Concert!

All of our Virtual Concert programs are crafted by the Programming Committee and specially performed by the artists in their own home for the Constellations audience.  You can donate online by clicking here or texting CONSTELLATIONS to 44-321.  All contributions for this campaign will go 100% to the artists!

Special thanks to Hae-Soon Hahn & Steve Rosenbaum for sponsoring the Constellations Programming Committee for our entire Virtual Concerts project!
