Christoph Bielefeld

Christoph Bielefeld was born in 1986, and began harp lessons at the age of eight. His first teachers were Marion Hofman and Christine Hübner. When he was sixteen, he became a junior student of Agnieszka Gralak in Aachen. After his final school exams he joined Prof. Helga Storck’s class in Munich, where he achieved his Artist’s Diploma in 2007. Since then, he has been studying in the postgraduate Meisterklasse with Catherine Michel and Julie Palloc in Zurich, from 2011-13 in Berlin with Marie-Pierre Langlamet.

While still at school, Christoph Bielefeld was a member of the German National Youth Orchestra, and won numerous national prizes at the youth competition “Jugend Musiziert”, as well as first prizes at the competitions of the German Harp Society. In 2006 he won the International Reinl Competition in Vienna, and second prize in the International Nippon Harp Competition in Soka, Japan. During the 2007 – 2008 season, he was engaged by the Münster / Westfalen Symphony Orchestra.

Christoph Bielefeld is a member of Live Music Now! in Munich, as well as being a scholarship holder with Villa Musica in Rheinland-Pfalz. There, he was awarded a special prize for his chamber music work in 2009.

2011-12, Christoph Bielefeld was a member of the Landestheater Gera as solo-harp.

Presently, Christoph Bielefeld is working as a freelance-harpist and plays in Orchestras like Berlin Philharmonic, Hamburg Philhamonic, Bamberg Symphonic, Helsinki Philhamonic, Opera Oslo etc.
