About the Event
We hope you can join us virtually on Sunday, April 26 starting at 4 pm for our next Constellations Virtual Concert! We are all in for a treat - this week's concert will be a wild adventure as we celebrate the collective burst of creativity across the music world during the pandemic. As usual, the performance will be posted on our home page (www.constellationsmusic.org) as well as on our Facebook page, and available online for 72 hours to enjoy at your convenience. Access to the video is free and we encourage you to continue to spread the word and share with family and friends. It's been so exciting (and overwhelming) to see people supporting from all over the world and coming together for these concerts, in addition to our growing DC-area audience!
We are welcoming double bassist and composer Sam Suggs (Concert Artists Guild; 2017 "Extraordinary Creativity" Award from Bradetich Foundation International Double Bass Competition), cellist Amanda Gookin (founder, PUBLIQuartet & Forward Music Project), and flutist Tim Munro (three-time Grammy winner & founding member of Eighth Blackbird) for a program that you won't soon forget!
The program will feature the following works:
J.S. Bach Suite No. 2 in D minor - Sarabande
Sam Suggs Postlude
Sam Suggs Giant Hummingbirds
Amy Beth Kirsten Pirouette on a Moon Sliver, “Illusion”
Eve Beglarian I will not be sad in this world
Our very own Daniel Pesca will host double-feature discussion panels with Amanda and Sam, and again with Tim Munro and composers Amy Beth Kirsten (Fellow, Guggenheim and Rockefeller Foundations) and Eve Beglarian (Winner, 2017 Alpert Awards for the Arts & 2015 Robert Rauschenberg Prize).
A big THANK YOU to Charles & Kathleen Buffon, Michael Bartscherer, Nancy Riker, Aron & Karen Primack, and Astrid Weigert for sponsoring the musicians for our third Constellations Virtual Concert!
All of our Virtual Concert programs are crafted by the Programming Committee and specially performed by the artists in their own home for the Constellations audience. You can donate online by clicking here or texting CONSTELLATIONS to 44-321. All contributions for this campaign will go 100% to the artists!
Special thanks to Hae-Soon Hahn & Steve Rosenbaum for sponsoring the Constellations Programming Committee for our entire Virtual Concerts project!
