CURRENT OPENING:
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Constellations Chamber Concerts is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, forward-thinking, and experienced individual to direct its operations and manage several part-time operational personnel. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to public service and the desire to work in a collaborative, team environment.
LOCATION: Washington, DC area with remote work option for most tasks
HOURS:
Salaried position with flexible hours and some fixed hours. Typical time commitment will be approximately 20-30 hours per week, and infrequently as much as 40 hours. Must be able to occasionally work nights and weekends, particularly during concert weeks. Timing depends on candidate availability and organizational needs.
COMPENSATION:
$30,000 to $35,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits negotiable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for effectively administering multiple aspects of Constellations Chamber Concerts to ensure a positive public experience and smooth overall operations. The Executive Director will also supervise part-time staff and volunteers working in three general areas: communications and marketing; fundraising and development; and event support. The Executive Director is responsible for planning and overseeing quality, timely staff work.
The Executive Director will be responsible for making day-to-day business decisions and resolving operational challenges, and to advise on key strategic decisions that will be made in conjunction with the Artistic Director and the Board of Directors.
REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM:

Bachelor’s degree

Strong skills in using Windows- or Mac-based computers, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and ability to navigate online databases and resources

Proven interpersonal and public relations skills to work effectively with coordinators, patrons, and the community in a team environment

Supervisory and program management experience
-
Strong communication skills
-
Experience with communications, newsletters, other promotional materials

Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with competing deadlines

Ability to review written materials and discern voice and audible tones
DESIRED:

Understanding of and appreciation for chamber music

Arts administration experience, especially concert production

Demonstrated ability to mentor, motivate, and inspire contract staff and volunteers

Experience working with community organizations and cultural institutions

Familiarity with grant writing and nonprofit development

Familiarity with website editing and management

Familiarity with video and audio editing and podcast production
