About the Event
Join us virtually on Sunday, May 10 starting at 4PM for "Stories Without Words," our next Constellations Virtual Concert! Our artists will be taking you on a spellbinding musical journey to places words can't reach. As usual, the performance will be posted on our home page (www.constellationsmusic.org) as well as on our Facebook page, and available online for 72 hours to enjoy at your convenience. Access to the video is free and we encourage you to continue to spread the word and share with family and friends. If you enjoy a more interactive experience, I'd encourage you to join for the Facebook "premiere" right at 4PM Sunday, where you can react and comment along with other listeners (and sometimes the musicians too) in real time!
We are thrilled to introduce you to French hornist Abel Pereira (principal horn in the National Symphony Orchestra), violinist Joseph Maile and violist Pei-Ling Lin for this weekend's concert! Joseph and Pei-Ling make up half of the award-winning Telegraph Quartet, and luckily for us are quarantined together.
The program will feature the following works:
Bernhard Krol: Laudatio
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Duo, K. 424
II. Andante cantabile
Vincent Persichetti: Parable VIII
Paul Hindemith: Sonata for solo violin, Op. 31 No. 1
I. Sehr lebhafte Achtel
Werner Pirchner: The Grasshopper's Journey in the Forest
Bohuslav Martinu: Three Madrigals
III. Allegro
Artistic Director Ellen Hwangbo will host a discussion panel with the performers to discuss their insights into the program and how the current pandemic has influenced their music-making.
